Writers of all kinds need support groups. This urge for community isn’t exclusive to freelance writers, fiction writers or even screenwriters. Luckily, most groups are open to writers of any genre, although some may have a more narrow focus in order to best serve their core membership.

Here are some organizations you may want to check out if you are a writer living in the state of Indiana:

Indiana Writers Groups

American Christian Fiction Writers Indiana Chapter is a great place for fellowship if you are a fiction writer looking for support in a Christian atmosphere. Guest speakers, workshops and networking are all a part of membership here.

The Southern Indiana Writers Group has been around since the early 90’s, and they meet weekly for networking and support.

The Indy Writers Group was founded in 2004 and they offer bi-monthly meetings for both pre-published and published authors alike. They also have a Yahoo group and a Facebook Page.

Founded in 1979, The Writers’ Center of Indiana is an excellent resource for writers. They offer classes and workshops as well as outreach programs and other events. They have approximately 345 members.

There is a writers group in Corydon, Indiana called Quills and Quibbles. It meets at the Harrison County Public Library. Those interested should call the library at 812-738-4110 and ask for Sue Haake.
