Great Bookstores: Centuries & Sleuths

From time to time I’ll feature a bookstore here that is deemed “worthy” of making the trip if you are in the area. Centuries & Sleuths is such a place…

History, biography or mystery? If one of these topics gets you excited, then so will Centuries and Sleuths Bookstore. Located just outside Chicago in the suburb of Forest Park, Illinois it is an easy side-trip for those sightseeing in the area and a good place to browse with plenty of choices. Stay Current With Mr. Magazine

Stay up to date with what is going on in the magazine industry by checking in with Mr. Magazine from time to time. This frequently updated site has the latest on new publications, who’s out, who is in and what’s up in the biz. If you have any thoughts about starting your own mag down the line, there are some wise words of advice here as well. This is a great site to browse through and bookmark for yourself. It is the perfect way to stay on top of what’s going on–the work has already been done for you!

Free Celtic Music Downloads!

This is such a great site! I write reviews for Celtic MP3s Music Magazine, so I have heard a ton of what Marc Gunn has to offer and it is really terrific! The site features free music downloads of Celtic, Scottish and Irish music from around the world, and if you subscribe, you even have the chance to win free Celtic CDs. The selection of music is excellent–everything from harp to Celtic rock to Irish dance music. With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, why not set the mood and get some tunes for yourself?

Build Your Vocabulary While Feeding The Hungry?

It’s true! You can learn new words while donating grains of rice–how cool is that?! Free Rice is basically a vocabulary quiz that gives 20 grains of rice for every right answer. (The site donates through the United Nations.) The best part is that the program has the capacity to adjust itself to your vocabulary level for an ever-increasing challenge. This is something you can do for a break and not feel bad about, which is always nice. I personally find it kind of addicting. Enjoy!

Delicious Coffee From Montana

If you are a flavored coffee fan, Montana Coffee Traders offers some tasty options. My two personal favorites are the Huckleberry and Flathead Cherry, but there are plenty to choose from. The Grizzly Blend is also outstanding, plus the proceeds are donated to a national conservation group. This is coffee with a conscience too–the company is all about fair trade and sustainable practices, so you can feel good about your purchase.
