Pennsylvania Writers Groups

Pennsylvania Writers GroupsPlenty of famous writers have come from Pennsylvania; George Romero, Wallace Stevens, John Updike, James Michener and Ida Tarbell, just to name a few. This collection of Pennsylvania writers groups is by no means all-inclusive, but we’d like it to be.

If you see that we’ve overlooked a worthy Pennsylvania writer’s group in this section, please drop a line to editor (at) freelance (dash) zone (dotcom) and let us know. We’d be happy to add another name to the list. Be sure to give us all the important facts about the group when you write, including the name, where and when the group meets, etc.

Pennsylvania Writers Groups

The Western Pennsylvania Writing Project is a professional development group for those involved in teaching. It serves eight counties in Western Pennsylvania and is part of the National Writing Project.

The Philadelphia Writers Meetup Group is a good place to get started if you aren’t sure where to begin. Philly, judging from the numbers of this writer’s group listed on the official site, is a happening place to be if you make your living putting pen to paper.

The Greater LeHigh Valley Writers Group meets on a monthly basis from September until June.

The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators has a chapter serving Eastern Pennsylvania AND one serving Western Pennsylvania.

Writers who are on LinkedIn should check out the Pennsylvania Freelance Writers group there.
