When researching Alabama writers groups, we found a LOT of resources for romance writers. Is there something about Alabama we should know? Seriously, there are plenty of romance writer’s groups serving the community there (more than we can list here), but there are plenty of other writing resources, too.

Alabama Writers Groups
Alabama Media Professionals is, as the name implies, a statewide organization for those in the media, including freelance writers with an emphasis on journalism and communication arts. Alabama Media Professionals is affiliated with the National Federation of Press Women.
Alabama Writers’ Forum is the statewide literary arts organization of Alabama. They feature an annual literary arts awards program, seminars, and literary events.
The Alabama Writers Conclave claims to be the “the oldest continuing writers’ organization in the United States” according to the official site. This groups caters to both established and aspiring writers, plus supporters of the writing arts.
Southern Magic is the Birmingham chapter of Romance Writers of America
Heart of Dixie is another branch of the RWA.
Southern Breeze Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators serves Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi. This is only one of 70 international regions of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, but if you’re in the Southern Breeze chapter area, you’ve got plenty of support if you’re involved in children’s literature.
