Don’t Get Cold Feet

Keep your tootsies toasty with these totally awesome socks this winter. This is probably my favorite article of clothing and although they are not exactly at bottom of the barrel prices, they are worth every penny. Thorlos have nice cushy padding that make you feel like you are walking on little pillows. (And if you wash them inside-out, they’ll fluff right back up again for you, even if you walked a couple of miles!) Be kind to yourself and try a pair–you’ll be hooked!

Resource for Writers: Absolute Write

new_logo1.gif

Absolute Write is one of my favorite writing resources–I post regularly on their forums and I have had many a question answered there. I began going there when I was a newbie and it was like finding a great secret! The atmosphere is friendly and there are places for all different kinds of writers, as well as a mound of posts that those new to the field can sift through to begin learning the business. A highly recommended site, the “AW” has all different levels covered, and is a perfect spot to vent, post a grammar question or just hang out with fellow writers. Look for me on the boards–I’m “Cate.”

Dry Hands? Try This–Cows Love It!

group_6272.jpg

I don’t know about you, but about this time of year my hands are so dry that I can hardly stand to touch the keyboard! Udderly Smooth® Udder Cream is something I keep on hand (ouch!) to combat this problem–and it is wonderful. Oh, and if you are wondering about the name? Yes–the product got the name because it was originally used on cows, but if it works…..

(And by the way–it smells good too!)

Health Special For Writers: Yoga

Take a break from your work without leaving your desk with My Daily Yoga — a terrific online yoga site that demonstrates a variety of exercises you can do at your desk. Choose from “everyday yoga” or “RSI yoga” which is designed to help prevent repetative stress injuries such as carpal tunnel. This is a great way to get a few minutes of exercise in without getting too far off track. Put it in your “favorites” today!

The standard warning of be careful with any exercise stuff, do at your own risk and consult a physician before exercising if you have been inactive or have any possible health conditions applies to this and all other exercise related posts here–in other words–be careful.

Brain Toniq–For Those Rough Days…

btonic.jpg

Well….I’ve not yet had this myself, but the product is pretty dang new, and sounds cool so….

Brain Toniq came on the scene in November of 2007, and it recently had a “walk-on role” at–of all places–MacWorld, alongside electronics and computers galore. Their website says it is, “formulated with an effective mix of cognitive-enhancing plant extracts and organic agave syrup.”

Yum! Brain food! What’s more, there is no caffeine or artificial sweeteners in the product. At 80 calories a can, it might be something worth checking into…

Writer’s Getaway: Belton Chalet, West Glacier, MT

belton.jpg

Something about the west has inspired writers and artists for as long as it has been settled and The Belton Chalet is truly an inspirational place. An updated, yet still old-fashioned feel makes this a wonderful place to settle in and write. Sit on the amazing decks and gaze out at the mountains, take your laptop down to the resturant deck and sip a glass of wine as you type, or simply curl up by the fire and make the most of the atmosphere.

There is an on-site spa if you’d like to indulge yourself. Box lunches are also available if you want to take a ride to Glacier National Park–only a short drive away if you need an even more dramatic backdrop for your writing. A popular spot–so reserve ahead of time. Another one of my favorites!
