We’d be very happy to include your writer’s group here. This is definitely a work in progress. It’s not easy finding writing groups and resources for writers in all fifty states, but we’re well on our way to getting some kind of representation for all the states in the Union.
Washington State Writers Groups:
The Northwest Institute of Literary Arts offers conferences and programs including the Whidbey Island MFA program. The website claims this MFA program is the first of its kind in America–an MFA offered through a writer’s organization rather than a university. It’s an intriguing concept.
The Pacific Northwest Writers Association wants to connect writers with one another, as well as publishers and agents. Members get a discount rates on a subscription to Publishers Weekly and other magazines, plus there are seminars and conferences on a regular basis.
The Writer’s Workshop is based in Seattle and offers online writing classes, in-person sessions, a newsletter and much more. There are courses for both fiction and non-fiction writers; aspiring travel writers in Seattle should have a look at the travel writing class.
Spokane Authors and Self-Publishers has a mission; to help authors get published in whatever medium works best for them. That could mean traditional book publishing contracts, self publication or other avenues. Whichever route works best for the author, this group wants to help by familiarizing writers with the world of publishing.
The Skagit Valley Writers League has been around since 1958, serving the writing community in the Greater Skagit Valley area of Washington State. The league meets twice monthly.
