Donations For Promoting Literacy?

Just a quick blurb for the Florida Writers Association–they are holding a silent auction to raise funds to promote literacy and are looking for book donation from authors. This is from one of the members:

“We would love if you could contribute one or more of your books (especially signed ones, if possible). Florida Writers Foundation is sponsoring the tote bags for the entire conference, so if you’d like to add anything to the tote bags (catalogs, coupons, etc), we’d be happy to do that for you. We anticipate a crowd of 250 people at the Florida Writers Conference October 23-25.

We are advertising the donors by linking a photo of the book with the donor’s URL. It’s posted on this year’s Silent Auction website: http://fwa2009conference.blogspot.com/.”

All funds collected go to the cause. If you are an author that can help them out, please do. Anyone interested can contact the Florida Writers Association for details.

The Florida Writers Association is a group that I came across while researching some ideas for travel writing here in the state. I have to say, their website impressed me. With a very thorough list of local groups and a page that links to member websites, it has a classy-looking presentation. If you live in Florida and write, I would take a look at this organization and consider membership–they really look like they have their act together. Plus, it’s always a good idea to network with other writers…you just never know what may come of it!
