The CIA World Factbook is something to check out. You’ll find 267 full-color maps, and profiles for all kinds of countries that include information such as population, literacy rates and economic data. This terrific reference tool comes in very handy in a variety of different applications.

    Adventure travel writers should definitely explore the data in the CIA World Factbook as you can learn about potential dangers related to organized crime or terrorism at overseas destinations. Most people are taken by surprise by revelations like the presence of Al Queda in South Korea and a higher-than-usual incidence of tourist kidnappings in some European destinations.
