Become a Paid Travel Writer at Unanchor.com

I’ve previously written that the best way to become a paid travel writer is to find demand first and write second. Here’s a perfect example; my company, Unanchor.com, has announced that we are paying writers up to $100 to write travel itineraries. In the following post, I’ll tell you a little about Unanchor.com and why you should consider writing for us.

What is Unanchor.com?

Unanchor.com is a travel startup company trying to cut down the amount of time it takes to research what to do and how to get around for your next trip. We’ve created a marketplace of self-guided tour itineraries.

Self-guided tour itineraries provide a schedule of prioritized sites, detailed maps & directions, and insider local information. It’s best to look at an example. We’ve created a 1-day San Francisco example itinerary.

Paying Itinerary Writers

The program is pretty simple: you write an itinerary and once we approve it, we pay you up to $100 in a revenue advance. In addition to the revenue advance, you’ll also earn 75% from the sale of each itinerary.

How it Works

1. Fill out the itinerary writer application form.
2. Once the application is approved, the pending revenue advance amount will be placed into your Unanchor account.
3. Write and submit the itinerary.
4. After the itinerary is approved, the money will be released and can be paid via check or Paypal – your choice.

The Fine Print

• While we consider and accept applications for all cities, only major cities will qualify for the $100 advance (others will qualify for a smaller advance). Check out a non-exhaustive list of cities and the revenue advance they qualify for.
• The number of days your itinerary covers will also be considered when determining the advance amount.
• The money paid upfront is an advance of your future revenues. This means you’ll begin earning additional money from your itinerary after you’ve sold enough to “pay back” the revenue advance. Check out the itinerary writer FAQ for more information and an example.
• This offer is only available to the first 50 approved itineraries.
