Freelance Writer Jobs

It’s here! The inaugural installment of our new feature. Watch this space for relevant jobs and writer’s markets. We do NOT use scrapers or RSS feeds. These are all hand-selected jobs and markets. No Demand Studios, no HubPages or any of that…those angles are well  covered. Heer’s what we DO like today:

RadarOnline.com seeks fulltime staff for entertainment news. There’s one position advertised for the Los Angeles office, but RadarOnline is willing to consider someone based in NYC. RadarOnline is also seeking freelancers who want to do entertainment reporting who can handle breaking news. If you have to ask, “What’s breaking news” don’t bother replying–you aren’t what they’re looking for. Send resumes and salary requirements to myresumenyc@amilink.com

Links Media put out a call for a full time writer who could do brochures, technical writing and other jack-of-all-trades work. This looks like a combination of B2B and end user work. The fact that the job description uses the word “impactful” and requires a degree leads one to believe this is not a company with a publishing focus, but one that uses publishing as part of a larger marketing plan for a product or service.  Send a cover letter, resume, three or more writing samples and web links to jobs@linksmedia.net in MS Word format or fax to 301-987-5498. Don’t let that “full time” requirement dissuade you from hitting this company up for freelance work. Chances are they need plenty of help with side projects.

STUPID CRAIGSLIST FREELANCE WRITING JOB AD OF THE WEEK:

Apply for this if you must, but you’ll be disappointed. The headline is reproduced VERBATIM from Craigslist:

Writer Needed-Intelligence Optional

“Searching for creative writers with 5+ years of experience. Brains not required, but a proven track record of writing bang-up copy is a must.”

Are you ready to work for these guys yet? The headline says “intelligence optional” but the ad also warms writers to paste their writing samples and such into the body of the contact email, and that ” attachments will be deleted.” How do they expect you to follow directions if brains are optional?

Contact them if you dare– gigs-e2aqj-1290888526@craigslist.org

And finally…

WritersWeekly.com posts this good opportunity for our freelance writer friends who have Canadian connections:

Faith Today, looking for “Short profiles and news stories with a Canadian connection.” Pays $0.20-$0.25 (CDN) per word for 150-2000 words. We’re fans of WritersWeekly and are always glad to pass on a little link love. Check their jobs/markets section for much more.
